Glioma in dogs
Dogs exhibit brain tumours with an incidence similar to humans and they are exposed to the same environmental factors as their owners. The antibodies validated for immunohsitological studies in dogs and cats are used to evaluate the balance between cell division and cell death trough different mechanisms (apoptosis, autophagy and reticulum stress) in 30 spontaneous canine and feline oligodendroglioma, giving a picture of their potential aggressiveness.
Such study also opens the door to the evaluation of treatment efficiency in spontaneously occurring gliomas.
In collaboration with Prof. C. Cantile, University of Pisa.
